Thank you, 2020 Palmetto Bella

Thank you, 2020

OK, OK — I know what the title looks like, but hear me out. Trust me — I was cursing 2020 just as much as the next person a couple months ago, but not anymore. If anything, 2020 has taught me that life is going to take you where you are supposed to go, one way or another. It took me some time, but now I am able to look back on 2020, and I am so grateful for the year. I had a tough first semester of college. Let’s be honest — I had a tough 2020 like everyone else — but it took my first semester of college

Buying Your First New Car | Palmetto Bella

Buying Your First New Car

So I got a new car! Yay! It was much harder than I expected. There were many things I didn’t know I would have to know. So I figured that I would give some advice on the things that I didn’t know so that anyone who is thinking about buying his or her first car could get some insight. The Dealership Finding the place to buy the car was a lot harder than I originally expected. I was pretty much under the impression that I could go to a dealership and they would have exactly what I wanted in the exact color and with all the features I wanted. Wrong!

Creative Ways to Celebrate Halloween

5 Ways to have to Spooky Good Time Fall is one of my favorite times of the year — you get to wear sweatshirts and leggings and drink pumpkin-spice-flavored everything. There is also another reason that I love fall and that’s Halloween. October is the beginning of the Halloween season, or “Spooky Season,” as I like to call it. Usually around this time my friends and I would be figuring out our Halloween costumes. This year I was looking forward to college Halloween parties and I would be planning out the best trick-or-treat routes through our neighborhood. Now every one of those activities is not possible because of COVID-19. So

Change

I’m 18 so I’m still young and I’m at a point in my life where everything is changing. So this month’s theme of change is kind of perfect. Almost everything is changing for me. School is completely changed. I am now a full-time college student at USCA!!! I am very excited to start my new life and the changes that come with it. College is very different from the freshman year that I expected — I was very much looking forward to being on campus and really experiencing campus life. When I was first told that we would not have school regularly on campus, I was very upset about the

The New Normal

It’s August now. Which means back to — back to school, back to work, and back to life. Well, kind of. We are going back, but to what exactly? We all have a “new normal” we are going back to. It is so interesting to see everyone, including myself, change to these new routines. We all have a new normal, essentially, and now we are all adjusting to all the changes. To be honest, I am still a little sad about the new normal that we have. I miss being able to hug my friends and go inside restaurants without a mask. Though it is very hard not to be

Mr. … Mrs. … Miss… What?

I am 18 years old now, I’m a legal adult, and I am a high school graduate. The road to adulthood was rocky but I made it, and now, well, now I’m more confused about life than I was when I was a “kid.” I feel like I’m at a fork in the road with about a million different paths, and I know that’s the exciting part of life. I’m told that these are supposed to be the best years of my life and I finally get to figure out what I want to do and be an adult, but ironically I don’t feel much different than when I was

Perspective on Ending My Senior Year in Quarantine

Quarantine Everyone has a different idea on how everyone else is handling it because, let’s face it — we’ve got the time to think about it. So I thought I would share a little bit of my perspective on quarantine. My name is Anaya Armstrong. I have worked for Bella for some months now; among other responsibilities, I am in charge of the Bella Buzz Community Calendar. I am a graduating senior at South Aiken High School and I turned 18 in February. For me quarantine has been a rollercoaster of emotions and feelings. As a senior in high school, my experience with quarantine was at first very hard. I
