5 Ways to have to Spooky Good Time

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year — you get to wear sweatshirts and leggings and drink pumpkin-spice-flavored everything. There is also another reason that I love fall and that’s Halloween.

October is the beginning of the Halloween season, or “Spooky Season,” as I like to call it. Usually around this time my friends and I would be figuring out our Halloween costumes. This year I was looking forward to college Halloween parties and I would be planning out the best trick-or-treat routes through our neighborhood. Now every one of those activities is not possible because of COVID-19. So in honor of this month’s theme of creativity, I want to share some fun activities you can do at home to have a happy and safe Halloween.

Halloween Parade

This activity was originally meant for a neighborhood, but I believe it could still be fun with a family. This activity is pretty much exactly what it sounds like — you get all dressed up and parade through the neighborhood. You could decorate your car or bike in a Halloween theme to participate in the parade. For people who want to take part, I would recommend a costume that includes some sort of mask. If not, then just wear a mask that coordinates with your costume. This year all participants should be following social distancing regulations.

Halloween Gift Basket Delivery

A group of women made Halloween baskets and put an invite out on Facebook so they could be delivered to your door. This is a very creative and super safe way to get sweet treats. This idea could be modified for a specific person by including things that they may enjoy or treats that they may like. This is a very good way to let others know that you are thinking about them on Halloween.

Halloween Backyard Movies

The next activity that I want to share is probably the simplest and would be the most enjoyable for the kids my age. You can invite friends and family to come watch movies together and be safe but still have fun For this activity you’ll need a couple of things: a backyard or large open space, a projector, a way to watch movies (Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime), and lastly snacks. This activity has the highest risk factor so I especially want to remind you please to follow all social distancing and mask regulations and stay safe.

Halloween Crafts

There are many spooky themed crafts that can serve as decorations around the house to get everyone into the Halloween mood. I have come across ideas, and my favorite are spooky leaves. To make them, you gather fallen leaves and paint them white to makes ghost leaves. These can be used as decor or even strung together for decoration. Halloween Treats

Cooking is always fun regardless of the time of year, and Halloween just allows us to make fun themed treats for everyone to enjoy. Be creative and use your Halloween spirit to create and decorate. Make monster cookies with a simple drop of food coloring and some candy eyes. Let your Halloween spirit guide you and make all the spooky treats you desire.

Even though it is a unusual time, there are plenty of ways to celebrate Halloween.
